Recognize
  • Why employers should prioritize psychological health and safety
  • How mental health issues affect workers
  • How promoting psychological health and safety reduces costs
  • Stigma as a barrier
Assess
  • Psychosocial factors affecting psychological health and safety in the workplace. These include work-life balance, reasonable and clear job demands, feeling valued, respected, and supported, feeling safe at work, having challenging and engaging work, and support for growth and development.
Control
  • Implement control measures to assess each psychosocial factor
Evaluate
  • The effectiveness of controls

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify how the RACE model is important in creating a psychologically healthy and safe workplace.
  • Define psychological health and safety and your legal duty to maintain a healthy and safe workplace.
  • Explain how addressing psychological health and safety can lead to cost reduction in the workplace.
  • Describe how the work environment can affect mental health and how mental health issues affect everyone in the workplace.
  • State how to gain support and participation across the organization.
  • Recognize how psychosocial factors relate to psychological health and safety assessment.
  • Recall the psychosocial factors and summarize them using the six categories.
  • Identify common assessment methods that your organization can use.
  • Recall how to determine which psychosocial factors to address first.
  • Recognize control measures that can improve all psychosocial factors.
  • Determine which control measures could be used to target specific psychosocial factors.
  • Describe what effective evaluation can look like.
  • State the importance of sharing findings and celebrating successes.
