The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) is celebrating Safety and Health Week virtually this year with free, live online events from May 2-5, 2022. CCOHS developed this program for organizations to include as part of their Safety and Health Week activities for their workers.
May 2: Safety and Health Week 2022 Virtual National Kick-off

CCOHS, along with its national partners, will officially kick off Safety and Health Week and announce the winners of the Focus on Safety National Youth Video Contest.
May 2: Keynote Address with Tareq Hadhad: Resiliency Through Adversity

Syrian-Canadian entrepreneur Tareq Hadhad, founder of Peace by Chocolate, shares his emotional journey from Syria to Canada with heartbreaking and perspective shaping stops along the way. His timely message of hope and peace will inspire and strengthen our resolve to make our own impact on the world.
May 3: Indigenous Communities at Work: Building Trust and Sustaining Well-being

Stacey Maguire of Glooscap First Nation and Travis Woodworth of Millbrook First Nation will discuss workplace health and safety in Indigenous communities. This session will touch on the value of integrating culture into safety programs to gain community acceptance and the complexities of situations workers face in small, rural communities.
May 4: Midweek Mental Fitness

Improve focus, lower stress, and increase productivity with mental fitness. This session will help participants pause, relax, and reflect as they exercise their brain and join in a short, guided meditation.
May 5: Take Action, Don’t Walk By

Health and safety professionals Lee-Anne Lyon-Bartley and Janet Mannella discuss five steps to positively change an organization’s health and safety culture.
