March 3, 2022 – Hamilton, ON – Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS)
The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) will be presenting a free, two-part webinar, Preventing Workplace Harassment and Violence, to help workplaces address and develop policies on harassment and violence.
The webinar series will refer to the federal regulations under the Canada Labour Code Part II and is recommended for federally regulated workplaces, and anyone interested in workplace harassment and violence prevention. Each session includes a presentation and question and answer period. The English events will be presented live and French language will be available as pre-recorded presentations, at different times.
Part 1: Roles, Responsibilities and Responding: This session will cover the definitions of workplace harassment and violence, and the roles and responsibilities involved. Participants will learn what to include in a prevention policy, such as emergency response procedures, community and employee supports, reporting procedures, and responding to a notice of occurrence.
Part 2: Civility, Respect and Communication: Participants will learn about reporting and receiving a notice of an occurrence, and preventative actions their workplaces can take. They will also explore communication techniques that promote safe interactions through civility and respect and the psychological factors that can help support a healthy and safe workplace.
