     Health and Safety Workshops


CCOHS is hosting a series of complimentary workshops designed to be of interest to both small and large businesses alike. These informal, content-rich, 60 minute sessions will be conducted by health and safety professionals from the Hamilton community.

All workshops are to be held onsite at CCOHS, in downtown Hamilton, ON.

Due Diligence is an investment in injury prevention and reduced accident costs. it makes good business sense for employers to have programs and activities in place that demonstrates a commitment to taking reasonable care for the protection of the worker and thereby meet the text of due diligence.

New Worker Health & Safety Initiatives
CCOHS is pleased to demonstrate the Canadian youth Web Portal and discuss how new workers can be helped through this project. To discuss Hamilton and area new worker initiatives, Sarah Goodhope will share what's happening with the Youth Employment Network, a young worker group. This group will be hosting their own workshop, A Health and Safety Awareness Seminar for Youth on Tuesday, May 6/03 from 2:30-4:30 pm at careerworx!.  Download flyer for details

West Nile Virus: Prevention and Control
If you employ outdoor workers or are one yourself, attending this workshop can help you learn appropriate prevention and control measures regarding the West Nile virus. Find out how to properly apply insect repellents and choose clothing that will help reduce risks of acquiring this disease. Your questions on how to set up and maintain surveillance for West Nile virus in humans, mosquitoes, birds, horses, other animals will also be addressed.
